"The Little Prince" - Pastel Artwork

Updated: Jun 15, 2024

In March, our students began learning to work with oil pastels, employing new techniques.

The word "pastel" comes from the Italian word "pasta," meaning dough or paste.

Pastels are colored sticks made from a finely ground mixture of pigment, chalk, or a special type of clay, and a binding agent called gum arabic.

A key characteristic of pastels is that they are used on textured paper, as the pigment needs to adhere to the surface.

Additionally, pastel artworks do not fade in sunlight, are not affected by temperature changes, and do not crack or dull.

Thus, pieces created with this technique will remain vibrant and fresh for many years.

Our students have shown excellent results! We are immensely proud of our wonderful students and talented instructors!
